What to get in touch about

A figure that looks wrong

This is the most useful message you can send. Every calculator starts from published rates — the energy regulator's cap, market fuel prices, typical trade day rates — and those move. If a default looks stale or a result does not match a bill or quote in front of you, tell us the calculator, the figure you saw and the figure you expected. Each calculator names the source it uses and the date it was last checked, so quoting that date helps us find the problem quickly.

A calculator you wish existed

We add calculators where an estimate is genuinely hard to work out by hand and the inputs are things a homeowner actually knows. If you have been trying to price something and could not find an honest tool for it, that is worth telling us — several of the calculators on the site started that way.

How a number was worked out

Every calculator shows its formula, its assumptions and what it excludes, and how it works covers the method across the whole site. If something there is unclear or looks like it is missing a cost, we would rather fix the explanation than have you guess at it.

Press, data and citations

You are welcome to cite any calculator or guide with a link. If you need the methodology behind a specific figure, or want to check a number before publishing, ask and we will point you at the working.

What we cannot help with

We are not an installer, supplier, broker or energy company, and we have no affiliation with any — see about us. We cannot quote for work, arrange it, or advise on your specific tariff or finances. Every figure here is an estimate to help you sanity-check a real quote, not a substitute for one.

We also cannot look up your account with an energy supplier or contractor. If your query is about a bill you have received, your supplier is the only party who can answer it — though the electricity cost calculator and our guide to unit rates and standing charges will tell you whether the figure on it is plausible.

Response times

A person reads every message. There is no auto-reply, so nothing lands in your inbox to confirm it arrived. Corrections to a rate or a formula get looked at first, and if we change something because of your message, the calculator's last-checked date moves with it.
